Getting there

Air
National airline: Lithuanian Airlines
International airport: Vilnius International (VNO), 5km from city; post office,bureau de change, cafetarias/bars, duty free shop.
Airport tax: There is no airport tax.


Surface
Road
Lithuania has a good network of interconnecting roads, providing links to neighbouring countries. There are bus services from destinations in Lithuania to other Baltic cities, Kaliningrad and some services to Western Europe.
Rail
Lithuania has a well developed rail network and Vilnius is the major city for rail connections in the region. There are train connections with Poland through Grodno in Belarus (Belarus visa required). There are regular trains to Russia (Moscow and St Petersburg). Rail travel between Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is slow. Passengers to destinations outside Lithuania are asked to pay in hard currency.
Water
Between Hull (UK) and Klaipeda there is a fortnightly shipping service. Two ferry lines link Klaipeda to Germany. It is advisable to book at least one month in advance.
